Full-service interior design.

Full-service design at 7 Maple Design takes one room or a whole home from concept through install. Lora Short plans the space, selects materials, fixtures and furnishings, sources every piece and coordinates the contractors, across Madeira and greater Cincinnati.

What is included

What does full-service design include?

Everything it takes to turn a plan into a finished room, handled by one designer from the first conversation to the final install.

  • Space planning and layout
  • Materials, finishes and fixtures
  • Furniture plan and furnishings
  • Lighting plan
  • 2D and 3D mockups
  • Specification sheets your contractor can build from
  • Sourcing, ordering and tracking
  • Contractor coordination, with Lora's contractors or yours

Deliverables depend on the scope agreed at the free consultation.

Who it is for

Is full-service design right for you?

It fits a whole home, or a home done room by room, when you want one person holding the plan together. Kitchens, primary baths and living rooms are the most common single-room projects.

If you only need help with one room or one decision, à la carte design is the better fit. For kitchen, bath and whole-home renovations, see kitchen & bath remodels.

The process

How does full-service design work?

  1. 01

    Free consultation

A conversation about the space, the budget and the timeline. No cost and no obligation.

  2. 02

    Direction and concept

Layout, palette and materials come together into a direction you can actually picture.

  3. 03

    Sourcing and selections

Fixtures, finishes and furnishings sourced and specified, with trades coordinated as needed.

  4. 04

    Install

Everything comes together in the space. The part where a plan turns into a room.

Answers from the Designer Q&A.
All 115 questions →

What does an interior designer actually do?

A designer plans how a space works before anyone decides what it looks like. That means layout, flow, lighting, storage, and finishes, then furniture and styling on top of it. The goal is a room that functions correctly and happens to be beautiful, not the other way around.

What deliverables do I get?

Depending on scope: 2D and 3D mockups, a furniture plan, finish and material selections, a lighting plan, a shopping list with sources, and specification sheets your contractor can build from.

Do you manage the contractor?

Yes, I have contractors on staff, but am happy to work with client preferred contractors.

How long does a design project take?

A single room consultation can wrap in a week. A full renovation with construction can run months. Furniture lead times alone frequently run 8 to 16 weeks, which surprises people more than anything else.

Can we phase the project over time?

Yes, and it is often the smart move. A master plan built up front means phase three still works with phase one, instead of three disconnected rooms.

How much does interior design cost?

It depends on the project. Every project is priced individually after an initial consultation, once the scope is clear. Schedule a free consultation →
